Avram Miller, former Corporate Vice President of Business Development at Intel Corporation, was a co-founder of Intel Capital and is known for his successful investments in early-stage companies. He led Intel’s initiative to help create and expand residential broadband Internet access.
Miller has been listed several times in the Forbes Midas List of the top 100 venture investors, occupying the number eight position in 2003. USA Today called Miller a “one-man think tank” and “strategic matchmaker.” Miller has served on the boards of numerous public and private technology and entertainment companies, and has advised various financial services firms, including Lazard. Miller has served as a senior advisor to Lazard Frères & Co. (now the Lazard Group LLC), and has served as a director of various companies including CMGI, World Online, PCCW, and entertainment companies including Maxis and King World Productions.
After leaving Intel in 1999, Miller set up The Avram Miller Company to advise early stage companies on strategic and financing issues.
Alexander Adamovich served as Managing Director and Head of Peregrine Direct Investments Limited of Hong Kong, the direct investment arm of the Peregrine Group, Asia’s largest independent investment bank with 28 offices in 15 countries. In 1998, Adamovich bought control of the Investment Company of China, becoming the largest shareholder in 1999. He has served on the board and investment committees of several major investment funds, including the US$850 million Asian Infrastructure Fund.
Adamovich co-invests with some of the world’s most prominent and well-known investors. He is a former lecturer at the Universities of New South Wales, Australia and Hong Kong, and has presented lead papers on Asian venture capital at international conferences, including at the Aspen Institute and the Australian National University.
Martin Rifkin is Senior Managing Director at Coremix Capital, LLC, a private investment firm headquartered in Vancouver, WA that provides debt and equity capital to leading middle market companies. Coremix Capital manages approximately $500 million.
Rifkin brings more than 30 years of executive management and product development experience to Breakwater’s Advisory Board. Before joining Coremix Capital, Rifkin served as founder and CEO of Avid Health, the national leader in gummy form vitamins and supplements, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining the vision and direction of the company. Rifkin played a key role in Avid Health’s domestic and international expansion, leading early growth with revolutionary delivery systems and infrastructure expansion.
